Hi, I'm William.

I'm a photographer. I built BlitzRaw because I was tired of waiting.

I'm from Paris. I've lived in Japan for ten years, and I've been shooting for a living for as long, and for the love of it for about fifteen. Mostly portraits and events, more and more commercial real estate lately, and some fashion and product work when it comes along.

I love shooting. The part after, I used to dread. Not because editing is hard, but because of the waiting. For as long as I've used Lightroom, it's been in my way: five seconds to open the next photo, five seconds to get back to the grid, a little pause after every slider. Spread over ten years, that isn't a few lost evenings. It's weeks. Probably months.

I tried to leave, more than once. Darktable, Capture One, ON1 and a few others. Some had lovely editing and a library I couldn't work with. Some were powerful and a pain to use. Some were just as slow. Every time, I ended up back in Lightroom, grumbling.

Then I found RapidRAW, CyberTimon's open-source editor. It was quick in a way nothing else I'd tried was, and because it was open, I could change it. So I did. I added what my work needed: a proper library, culling from the keyboard, brackets that stack themselves, previews that stay with the photos, my camera's real color, and a second screen for the scopes. Somewhere along the way it turned into BlitzRaw.

BlitzSync came from the other half of the job: getting photos off the card, and making sure they live in more than one place before anything gets deleted. I built it for myself first, like everything here.

There's no team behind this. It's just me. If BlitzRaw gives you back some of your evenings, the $20 is how you tell me it was worth building, and it's what keeps me building.

William
